With more than 40 years of experience, Steven H. Mutz is a trial lawyer who has had innumerable successful case resolutions for his doctor, hospital, and dentist clients at both mediations and trials. His practice also includes defending long-term care providers in a variety of cases including those involving pressure ulcers.

Defense verdict for hospital and its nurses in “Brady v Cornwall Hospital”, Supreme Court, Orange County

Defense verdict in “Shapiro v Ferencz” malpractice action in Supreme, NY County (NYJVR&A 2012)

Defense verdicts in multiple dental malpractice cases against the largest dental clinic in New York State.

Prior to joining Sheeley, Steven was a partner at two law firms where he managed and supervised the offices. He also served as counsel to a past New York State Senate Majority Leader.

In “Brady v. Cornwall Hospital,” Steven obtained a defense verdict for a hospital and its nurses refuting plaintiff’s claim that the hospital’s nurses did not follow doctors’ orders. He also obtained a defense verdict in “Shapiro v Ferencz,” a malpractice action in Supreme Court, NY County involving allegedly negligent dental inlays. Furthermore, Steven obtained defense verdicts in multiple dental malpractice cases against the largest dental clinic in New York State.

Steven lectured the New York Academy of General Dentistry on legal issues and malpractice prevention several times. He was selected “Top Rated Lawyer” in the area of Litigation and AV Rated by Martindale Hubbell in 2014.

Steven is the son of a World War II silver star medal winner for heroism at the Battle of Midway. He has participated in veterans’ “Wreaths Across America” and is a member of “Wild Geese” Irish American cultural organization. Steven lives with his wife, Bernadette Shaw, Penn State student daughter, and rescued dog in Greenwich, CT. He has coauthored, with his wife, a novel on Amazon Kindle receiving rave reviews. He enjoys walks, history, and Sherlock Holmes.
