Douglas O’Donovan defends physicians, nurses, hospitals, nursing homes, and other health care providers in complex medical malpractice litigation. He is actively involved in all phases of litigation, including drafting pleadings, conducting depositions, drafting and arguing motions, working closely with retained experts, advising clients on case strategy, and appearing at court conferences.
Douglas brings extensive litigation and courtroom experience to his practice. Prior to joining Sheeley LLP, he represented health care providers in high-exposure medical malpractice cases at a national law firm, handling matters from inception through resolution. His diverse caseload included claims involving alleged surgical errors, failures to diagnose cancer and other conditions, pressure ulcers, wrongful death, and a wide range of other complex medical issues.
Previously, Douglas served as a Senior Staff Attorney at Brooklyn Defender Services, where he represented thousands of indigent criminal defendants from arrest through trial. Drawing on more than a decade of diverse legal experience, he works to achieve favorable outcomes for his clients.

Borrero v. Long Island Jewish Medical Center, et al. Handled complex OBGYN matter involving 13 named defendants spanning 3 practice areas, 3 hospital admissions, and several surgeries. Moved for SJ on behalf of all 13 defendants and causes of action. Decision pending.
Outside the office Douglas enjoys the great outdoors, playing softball, and being disappointed on an annual basis by the New York Mets.
