Andrew T. Sheeley is the founder and Managing Partner of Sheeley. Andrew is a trial attorney with a broad range of experience representing health care providers in multiple states. For almost 20 years Andrew has devoted his practice primarily to the defense of post-acute care providers, including skilled nursing facilities (SNFs), assisted living facilities (ALFs), home health care agencies and managed care organizations (MCOs) in New York and other states. Additionally, Andrew represents major hospitals in New York City, along with physicians, and other allied healthcare providers.

Andrew earned a reputation with his clients for providing aggressive and meticulous representation by utilizing a dedicated team of attorneys, paralegals and investigators trained to defend claims against the long-term care industry. His team is skilled at the trial and appellate court levels at developing innovative and winning defense theories under New York Public Health Law § 2801-d and comparable sister-state ‘residents’ rights’ statutes.

While maintaining an active trial practice, Andrew developed a pre-litigation loss management program that is effectively utilized by national long-term care industry clients. Known as PRIDE (Promptly Report Incidents Disclose and Explain), the program features a specialized proprietary service designed in collaboration with high-level insurance company executives and underwriters, as well as long-term care owners and operators. The objective of the PRIDE program is to control and reduce litigation and insurance costs by promptly and systematically identifying certain defined incidents or injuries that commonly occur in long-term care facilities. Once the incident is identified and reported the PRIDE team works promptly with representatives of the facility to execute an individualized plan to respond to the incident and employ strategic measures that have been proven effective in preventing costly claims.
