Jeffrey Hawkins is a partner and trial attorney in the New York office of Sheeley LLP. Mr. Hawkins’ litigation practice areas include construction, labor law, medical malpractice, healthcare, medical devices, products liability, dram shop, hospitality, property damage, transportation (both personal and commercial), long-term care/nursing homes, and general litigation.
In his construction, labor law, and general liability practice, Mr. Hawkins represents building owners, general contractors, subcontractors, and homeowners, as well as product manufacturers, crane companies, and elevator entities against high-exposure claims.
In his medical malpractice and healthcare practice, Mr. Hawkins regularly defends nursing homes, long-term care facilities, physicians, hospitals, and other healthcare providers against complex medical malpractice matters. Cases he has successfully defended include those involving infant brain damage, quadriplegia, failure to diagnose terminal medical conditions, and wrongful death.
Mr. Hawkins has represented physicians practicing in a multitude of medical specialties, including geriatrics, wound care, gastroenterology, obstetrics and gynecology, cardiology, oncology, neurosurgery, pediatrics, radiology, infectious disease, orthopedic surgery, neurology, and vascular surgery. He also defends emergency room doctors and staff, as well as physicians, regarding hearings before the Office of Professional Medical Conduct.
